The AmazonAPI team is looking for an innovative and customer-obsessed Software Development Manager to ensure that our customers see accurate product information everywhere across Amazon.com. Getting this right is the cornerstone of earning the trust of our customers. You will grow and lead a team of engineers to build and operate a system that integrates dozens and dozens of services and delivers the results tens of thousands of times every second at blazing speeds. You will collaborate with teams around Amazon from search and product detail pages to Kindle and Amazon Video, making sure we always show our customers the right information every time. You will play an essential role in delivering a major paradigm shift that will provide an unprecedented level of extensibility for our partner teams to deliver innovations even more quickly. You will help pioneer new architectural and design choices, invent new features, develop distributed services, and build a dynamically scalable, rock-solid platform solution. To succeed in this role, you will need to partner closely with teams around the world to translate their business needs into solutions. You will need to solve real customer problems artfully with the technology that can deliver extreme transaction rates at high availability. You must care deeply about getting the details right even while keeping your eye on the big picture, and you will need to love operating the service with the same dedication with which you and your team built it. BE in Computer Science or equivalent
5+ years successfully leading and growing high performing software engineering teams
Proven track record of shipping multiple high quality software products on time
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated bias for action and ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Recent hands-on technical expertise
Experience in owning and operating mission critical, 24x7 systems
Ability to read customers’ minds to discern what they really want (vs. what they ask for) and to bend time and space to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions.
