Job Description is seeking a Data Scientist within its Global Marketing organization.
Amazon’s Global Marketing team is focused on maximizing the value of Amazon’s customer base for all Amazon properties worldwide. The team is highly results oriented, and is focused on leveraging in-house technology in order to automate and scale marketing programs that drive new customers and maximize lifetime value of Amazon customers through measurable marketing programs and channels.

You will be working on solving advanced Machine Learning problems associated with Paid Search Marketing strategy. The right candidate will have data analysis expertise as well as experience querying and maintaining large amounts of data. To succeed in this role you will work closely with the Free Search, Paid search and Automated marketing leaders in Seattle. Your key stakeholders will include the marketing leaders of the US. You will be supported by engineering resources, Business analysts, product managers and experts across many fields who will help you succeed.

key responsibilities:
  • Produce written recommendations and insights for key stakeholders that will help shape effective marketing strategies worldwide.
  • Support business with time-critical tactical data analyses.
  • Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know how, when and which data sources to use.
  • Deep dive into massive data sets to answer key business questions using R/Python, MS Excel, Oracle SQL and other data manipulation languages.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in highly quantitative field (CS, machine learning, mathematics, statistics) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software.
  • Experience applying various machine learning techniques, and understanding the key parameters that affect their performance.
  • Experience developing experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes, use of strong baselines, and the ability to accurately determine cause and effect relationships.
  • Understanding of relevant statistical measures such as confidence intervals, significance of error measurements, development and evaluation data sets, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with data visualization tools and creating data visualization concepts. (Excel, Tableau, or similar)
  • Familiarity with AWS RedShift and other distributed computing technologies preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively advocate technical solutions to research scientists, engineering teams and business audiences
  • Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in e-commerce or with search engines is a plus
