Job Description

Payroll Technology at Amazon is all about enabling our business to perform at scale as efficiently as possible with no defects. As Amazon's workforce grows, both in size and geography, Amazon's payroll operations become increasingly complex, and our customers are asked to do more with less. Process can only get them so far, and that's where we come in with technology solutions to integrate and automate systems, detect defects before payment, and provide insights.

We use a wide variety of technologies to build and support our systems, with a heavy focus on AWS technologies and Pega BPM. We are currently building, supporting, and extending several custom applications built on Pega technology, so an architect-level Pega skillset is required. Interest and experience in AWS is important as well. Strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to communicate with end users in non-technical terms, is vital to your long-term success.

You will work closely with business operations teams, functional experts, and other engineers to define and build solutions to meet Amazon Payroll needs. The ideal candidate will have experience developing business applications, an advanced competency in BPM, a working knowledge of BPMN, a high degree of collaborative skills, the ability to communicate effectively on many levels, and the desire to mentor others.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5-8 years’ experience building/developing Pega business applications, with Pega Certified Senior System Architect (CSSA)
  • Hands-on experience on Pega PRPC V7.X
  • 3+ years’ experience in developing business processes using BPM methodologies on Pega BPM.
  • 1+ years’ experience/knowledge in application development in languages such as Java or C#
  • 2+ years’ experience and good working knowledge of database development and engineering (PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • 1+ years’ experience in application integration using SOA/web services, messaging (JMS, MSMQ)
  • Experience with agile development.
  • 1+ years programming experience with related technology such as XML, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience with database schema design
  • Experience of Process modeling using BPM notation or equivalent
  • Working experience with Linux/Unix
  • Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen
