Amazon India is growing at a phenomenal pace, and the Consumer Marketing team is one of the engines that is driving this growth. You will be working on a program (internally codenamed Project Udaan) that aims to take Amazon to customers in markets (typically tier 2+ cities) that e-commerce does not effectively serve today. This is a relatively new initiative within the marketing team in Amazon India, and involves getting to understand the triggers/barriers to online shopping for next wave of prospective ecommerce customers. One of the ways we are solving for the barriers is by creating a network of physical touch points (stores) that will be physical manifestations of Amazon and will assist customers transact on Amazon. We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to be a part of the business development team that will build out this physical network of Amazon “points”. You will scout existing third-party networks, build strategic propositions that produce value for all parties (Amazon / 3P network / Store owner / End Consumer) or create your own channel model. You will also efficiently negotiate terms and close deals with these partners. Internally, you will work with functions that cut across the organization including technology, partner integration, category managers and logistics to drive great customer experience for our partners.
The ideal candidate will exhibit strong analytical as well as interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative climate. The role will require expertise both in internal team project management as well as working with leaders at major companies to strengthen partner relations and obsess over our customers.
Maximizing these partnerships requires identifying new potential within partner segments, developing scalable account management strategies and driving results for both Amazon and our partners. The right person will:
- Own monthly recruitment, unit and revenue growth objectives
- Identify new opportunities with existing partners by becoming an expert in their evolving needs
- Create simplified solutions for partner integrations
- Identify and recruit new partners for the program
- Create scalable network management processes by leveraging technology based solutions
- Conceptualize and execute trade / channel & consumer marketing initiatives to drive new customers via the program
The successful candidate will be highly analytical and detail-oriented, possess superior communication skills and be comfortable working independently. Candidates must demonstrate a superior track record for execution, creative problem solving, strategic thinking, and successful in all phases of account management including prospecting, acquisition, integration, scaling and retention of partners.
Requirements include a minimum of 6 years of BD/account management/sales experience in offline retail, FMCG, consumer durables or similar industries. We will bias towards candidates that have experience building out and managing physical distribution networks, and growing the business through these channels by executing on-ground activations, trade and channel marketing initiatives.
