Job Description

The Amazon Kindle team is seeking an innovative, results-oriented Senior Technical Program Manager in our Kindle Team. In this position you will provide both strategic and tactical oversight to drive the platforms and features required to have a best in class offering for Kindle customers.

The eBook industry is in its early stages and is evolving rapidly . We are looking for passionate individuals to join us in consistently improving our customer experience towards our goal of “Every book, ever printed, in any language, all available in less than 60 seconds.”

If you are comfortable digging into business requirements, drilling into design, architecture, and test plans with development and QA teams, and communicating with stakeholders at all levels, and if you have a passion for bringing the best Kindle shopping experience to our customers, then this is the position for you.
This role requires working closely with product management, and involves regular communication with senior management, and will be inherently cross-functional. Excellent listening skills, writing skills, and very strong drive to deliver results are essential. Must be a relationship-builder, decisive, and comfortable using data to influence and get the job done.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Help define strategy and roadmap for the Kindle experience on the web, Amazon's Kindle devices and third-party devices
  • Document and present strategies to senior management
  • Manage execution against project plans and delivery commitments
  • Work closely with product managers, partners teams and engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of software development life cycle management experience working in a cross-functional environment with an ability to influence other teams to meet goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audience
  • Bachelors Degree required
Equally important to these specific skills are a candidate's ability to:
  • Multi-task
  • Quickly adapt to new development environments and changing business requirements
  • Learn new systems
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely both written and orally is a key competency as is demonstrable skill as a self-starter

Preferred Qualifications

B.E/B.Tech/MCA/M.E/M.Tech/Ph.D degree in computer science or related fields
