Job Description

Come help build Amazon's Last Mile Delivery capabilities in India! We need a Senior TPM to be responsible for managing the Last Mile Delivery Technology Program for the India marketplace. In this role you will work with a broad group of stakeholders to ensure the technology supporting delivery to our customers is effective. You will work with India leadership to identify technology needs, ensure all projects are properly set up for success across all operational, business, and technology stakeholders, manage some projects, and make sure our Last Mile transportation capabilities can help the India business grow! This position is highly visible and impactful globally.
To be effective you'll need to have experience running large, cross-team projects. You'll need to have familiarity working with large scale systems that process millions of transactions, and be as comfortable digging into business requirements as drilling into architecture and design with development teams.

Last Mile is a term used in supply chain management and transportation planning to describe the movement of goods from a transportation hub to a final destination in the home. The final transportation hub situated nearest to the customer is referred to as Delivery Station which is responsible for the final Customer interactions (Delivery and Pickup of return packages). Over last couple of years, AMZL (Amazon Logistics) delivery stations have grown organically to cater to many new businesses and services within India, and this position will support all of them!

This position involves regular communication with senior management on status, risks and change control. Cross-team coordination, project management and executive presentation skills and working with remote teams are critical skills.

This role requires working with business teams worldwide, to define project strategy and requirements. Once identified it includes leading cross functional development teams from design through delivery, and managing the timelines for all supporting software and services to support the various platform projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Technical Program Management experience with related technologies, including managing significant cross functional projects in mid-size or large companies
  • 4+ years hands-on experience building software solutions within current industry standard technologies
  • 2+ years’ experience leading dev teams to design/architect business software solutions
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience
  • A first-hand working knowledge of current web development technologies and service oriented architecture
  • Advanced knowledge of business applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements and prioritize tasks
  • Strong business and technical vision
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A deep understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time
  • Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP or Project Management Certification
  • Master’s in Business Administration
  • 3+ years of coding experience in Java, C++, or Perl
  • Familiarity with building large scale solutions across many integrated and distributed systems, with great availability, performance, and security
