Job Description

Are you an experienced Computer Vision, Machine Learning and/or Deep Learning researcher who is capable of diving deep into hard technical problems and coming up with insightful solutions that enable successful products? Would you love to get access to large datasets with billions of images and video to build large-scale machine learning systems? Are you a finisher who can deliver robust, production-quality code that solves complex, real-world problems in ways that delight customers?

At Amazon Prime Video Bangalore, we are building a team of engineers and scientist to generate meta data based on in depth analysis of the audio-video using computer vision, natural language processing and machine learning technologies.

A Researcher on this team will translate business and functional requirements into quick prototypes or proofs of concept You will identify, evaluate and implement novel computer vision algorithms and collaborate closely with team members on developing systems from prototyping to production level. You will take responsibility for technical problem solving, creatively meeting product objectives and developing best practices.

You’ll collaborate closely with research scientists, business owners and Software Development Engineers to help define the scope of a product. You will demonstrate cross-functional resource interaction & collaborate with teams spread all over the world to accomplish your goals.

Comfort with a high degree of ambiguity and ability to solve problems that haven’t been solved to scale before are essential. You are a person with a commitment to team work, who enjoys working on complex software systems, is customer centric, and thrives on the challenge of prototyping new systems that will eventually operate at world-wide scale.

Basic Qualifications

  • A PhD or MS in CS Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Statistics, or in a highly quantitative field
  • 3+ years of experience in understanding and ability to implement algorithms in computer vision using both toolkits and self-developed code
  • 1+ years of experience in Java, C++, or other programming language, as well as with R, MATLAB, Python or similar scripting language
  • Hands on experience in building DNN, CNN, LSTM model and using commercial framework like TensorFlow/Caffe/Theano
  • Ability to define ground truth (data definition & rules), training & validation data sets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Excellent problem solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
  • Proven track record of innovation in creating novel algorithms and advancing the state of the art
  • Experience working with large datasets and Deep Learning algorithms
  • Distributed systems programming experience
