Amazon Campus team is seeking an experienced software development engineer to be the technical lead for a team working on strategic initiatives.

You are a true owner - you are passionate about the business and drive relentlessly to optimize and improve our deliverable, and allowing the business to move at a fast pace. You collaborate with UX designers, product managers, technical program managers, and partner teams. You are comfortable with a degree of ambiguity and willing to develop quick proof of concepts, iterate and improve. You create extensible design and easy to maintain solutions with the long term vision in mind.

An ideal candidate will operate at all levels, diving deep into the details while providing strategic inputs for the product in a fast paced environment. our Sr. SDEs don’t just define the technical approach, but also have a seat at the table to help make the right product decisions.

As a technical leader you will be working with business partners, software development engineers and testers UI/UX designers to design, implement, test, launch, document, and maintain complex software applications, tools, and systems. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product. You will learn a variety of cutting-edge technologies and mobile development processes, and develop well-rounded skills on technology, leadership, and effective project management. You will also mentor junior software development engineers. Not only do we deliver high-impact customer facing features, we also focus on learning, sharing, innovating and having fun at work.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field
    • 10+ years of software development experience
    • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C, C++, C#, Java, or Perl etc.
    • You should also have taken a leading role in building reliable, scalable software that has been successfully delivered to customers
    • Experience influencing software engineering best practices within your team and across others for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
    • Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
    • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Preferred Qualifications

  • You enjoy having a huge impact on a new global business – we’re moving fast and the scope of this role is large, so in addition to other engineering teams, experience working closely with business teams, UX teams, and product teams, is a big plus
  • You have a bit of an entrepreneurial streak and like understanding how the entire business works – our Sr. SDEs don’t just define the technical approach, but also have a seat at the table to help make the right product decisions.
  • You’ve either built or worked with distributed systems and are familiar with related topics such as consistency, durability, and concurrency
  • It helps if you’ve developed on Linux, and have experience using AWS and building/using web services generally speaking
